The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) intensified its campaign against hostile elements in Kwara State, conducting coordinated airstrikes and surveillance missions under Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The operations, executed on September 28, targeted threats in Kakihun, Oke-Ode, Babanla, and surrounding areas, the NAF announced on Monday.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, disclosed in a statement that the air component carried out reconnaissance and close air support missions to deter threats. “Hostile elements sighted east of Babanla were decisively engaged,” Ejodame said, noting that concurrent surveillance flights monitored key settlements and military positions to gather intelligence for ground troops.
The missions shows the NAF’s resolve to maintain air superiority and protect both troops and civilians. “The missions reaffirm NAF’s commitment to protecting troops and civilians, maintaining air superiority and sustaining pressure on hostile actors,” Ejodame stated. He added that all operations were completed successfully, with no reported disruptions.
The NAF urged citizens to remain vigilant and supportive as the Armed Forces continue efforts to restore lasting peace and security in the region. “All operations were completed successfully, and citizens are encouraged to remain confident, vigilant and supportive of the Armed Forces as decisive actions continue to restore lasting peace and security,” Ejodame said.
