The Nigeria Police has warned group or individual Nigerian to desist from heating up polity by their comments or utterances over the redesigned naira notes’ policy of the Federal Governmment.
The Police Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters Abuja, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi on Saturday sent the warning through the Nigerian Police twitter handle.
He said that the police is saddled with the duty to caution the populace against Instigative Comments against FG policy on the new naira notes.
The caution entitled, “Press release naira redesigned policy, NPF cautions against decisive, crisis-prone utterances noted that such act could heat up polity and capable of triggering crisis in the nation.
According to him, the warning was necessary, due to the fact that “the police perceived the utterances and reactions of certain individuals and groups as an attempt to instigate the public against federal government policy on new naira notes.”
The Nigerian Police charged the citizens to remain calm, stating that it is working with defense, security and intelligence Agencies to provide peaceful environment for people to conduct their socio-economic activities.
Noting that, this is significant and critical period in the transitional advancement of democracy in Nigeria, the police warned against act of violence, hooliganism and vandalism that may jeopardize the ongoing electoral process.
It said federal government has assured that it has taken the bull by the horn to address scarcity of naira and fuel.
