Appearance of former vice president to Goodluck Jonathan, Namadi Sambo, with his presicessor and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Abubakar Atiku, in Ilorin, set tongues wagging at the metropolitan square and days after the campaign tour in, Ilorin with many asking if Sambo was ever loyal to his former principal, Goodluck Jonathan, while he served as his deputy until 2015.
Sambo, in Ilorin, stood next to Atiku in the open bus as it drove into the Metropolitan Square, Ilorin last Thursday when the PDP presidential candidate came to Ilorin.
“Bear in mind that only a few days ago, Atiku had gone to see Jonathan, allegedly to plead with him over activities of the G5 governors under PDP led by Rivers State governor, Nyisom Wike, who have openly declared non-support for Atiku.
“Wike also spoke of the ignoble role Atiku played in 2015 to deny PDP victory.
“Namadi Sambo with Atiku in Ilorin appears to validate suspicion that he was never with Jonathan and was actually a mole in PDP in 2015.
They all betrayed Jonathan and party in 2015,” narrated a PDP Chieftain to Truth Live News in Ilorin.
Days after the tour, similar talk is still going on in PDP Kwara as roles of those around Atiku were identified as the same players in the nPDP that fractured the party in 2015.
Aside from Sambo, Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto was also part of the political heavyweight who were with Atiku in Ilorin.
Tambuwal, against earlier understanding with Wike, pitched tent with Atiku, fellow northerner, despite the Rivers State governor backing him back in 2019.
Other members of the party that tore PDP in 2015 and were with Atiku in Ilorin also include Dino Melaye who was unable secure the party’s ticket to contest for the senate despite all his seeming popularity.
