A native doctor has been arrested by the Police Special Anti-Cultism Squad for allegedly stashing firearms and ammunition in his shrine at Ugwuochie-Iwollo, Ezeagu Local Government Area, the Enugu State Police Command announced Monday.

During a raid, operatives recovered a locally made pistol, a revolver, one expended .38-calibre shell, a live .38-calibre round, and a live cartridge, following the suspect’s confession after his initial arrest.

The suspect, who admitted to being a member of the Black Axe confraternity, will face court proceedings once investigations conclude.

Commissioner of Police Mamman Giwa praised the squad’s diligence, urging sustained efforts to make Enugu “uninhabitable for unrepentant criminals.” He appealed for public support in the command’s ongoing fight against crime.
