Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has appealed to Nigerians to forgive him for missing a crucial goal-scoring opportunity against Zimbabwe in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Ndidi received backlash from fans after squandering a chance to double Nigeria’s lead in the 1-1 draw at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The midfielder’s missed opportunity proved costly as Zimbabwe equalized in the 90th minute through substitute Tawanda Chirewa.
Following the result, some Nigerian fans expressed their frustration on social media, criticizing Ndidi’s performance and particularly his missed opportunity.
In response, Ndidi acknowledged the missed chance and urged Nigerians not to be annoyed, stating that nobody is perfect in their job.
Ndidi took to his Instagram story to apologize, writing, “Please make una no vex for goal wey I miss; nobody perfect for him job.”
The Super Eagles’ next World Cup qualifier is against Rwanda in September.
