Regarding the event at Government House, Minna, where it was purported that someone’s genital vanished, the Niger State Government has characterised the rumours as unfounded.

In a statement, Bologi Ibrahim, the governor’s chief press secretary, said that the rumours going around about the incident and the culprit’s subsequent disappearance were false.

The government declared unequivocally that there is no factual basis for the story and that it is totally unfounded.

It noted, “While acknowledging the important roles of the media in reporting news, it remains pertinent that journalists exercise responsible journalism and refrain from spreading unverified rumours that can cause panic and anxiety among the public.”

The public was also reassured by the governor’s media assistant that the Government House Minna’s security measures are as strong and effective, as they have always been.

He said, ”The security operatives are always conscious of the safety and well-being of everyone within the premises and the state as a whole.”

He further called on the public to rely on credible sources of information and refrain from sharing or spreading unverified rumours.

“We are calling on the residents of the state to disregard the rumour and go about their lawful businesses,” the statement added.
