ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Federal Government has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities between Israel and Iran while finalizing evacuation plans for stranded Nigerians in both countries, the foreign affairs ministry said.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged Nigerian citizens in the conflict zones to contact the nearest Nigerian embassies in Tel Aviv and Tehran for registration and further instructions.
“All affected Nigerian citizens are strongly advised to abide by the necessary security protocols,” said Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the ministry, in the statement dated June 17.
Ebienfa praised Nigerian missions in Israel and Iran for their “dedication and commitment to reaching out to the Nigerian community at this difficult time,” despite the volatile situation on the ground.
