Lola Ade-John, the Nigerian Minister of Tourism, is in a critical condition at the Federal Medical Center, Jabi, Abuja due to suspected poisoning, an incident shrouded in mystery.

Family members are growing increasingly anxious about her deteriorating health, fearing the worst that time is slipping away in their quest to save her life.

The 60-year-old career banker and tech investor was swiftly admitted to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi when symptoms of poisoning became evident.

Currently, she relies on a breathing machine, yet the exact toxic substance and its source remain undisclosed and/or unknown.

Authorities, including the police and the State Security Service, have not yet confirmed any investigations into this alarming case.

Additionally, a dispute has arisen within her ministry, with Permanent Secretary Ngozi Onwudike advocating for her continued treatment at the public hospital, citing cost-effectiveness. In contrast, Ade-John’s family seeks to move her to a private, better-equipped facility downtown but is financially constrained, rendering them unable to do so.

This incident further increased the tensions between the family and the government.

Ade-John, appointed as a minister in August, was a notable outsider brought into the political sphere by President Bola Tinubu.

Her sudden illness has raised numerous questions and concerns, leaving both her family and the nation awaiting answers regarding this troubling situation.
