Douye Diri, Bayelsa State Governor has rewarded Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, side Bayelsa Queens players with the sum of N4 million each for winning the 2024-25 league title.
Governor Diri gave out the cash reward at a ceremony on Wednesday in Yenagoa.
The entire management team and Head coach, Whyte Ogbonda were also rewarded.
Diri urged the Prosperity Girls to aim for the 2025 WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers ticket.
“As you’re going for the WAFU Zone B, you should know that you’re not only representing Bayelsa State, but Nigeria, and you all know the President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a sports loving president, so I urge you to come back home with the trophy,” Governor Diri stated in his address to the players.
Bayelsa Queens will flag Nigeria’s flag at the biennial competition.
Cote d’Ivoire will host the WAFU B Women’s Champions tourney for the second consecutive edition.
