The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has greenlit an extension of the retirement age and length of service for teachers in the state, elevating it from 35 years to 40 years.
This announcement came through a statement signed by his Special Assistant on New Media, Leo Ekene-Oketa.
According to the statement, teachers in Ebonyi State will now be able to continue serving until the age of 65 years, with a corresponding adjustment in the length of service to 40 years, effective immediately.
The decision to extend the retirement age and length of service for teachers reflects the state government’s steadfast dedication to investing in human capital development.
The governor’s spokesperson highlighted that by retaining experienced teachers in the workforce for a longer period, the quality of education is anticipated to witness a significant improvement.
