Labour Party, LP, Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has stated that with federal government abdicating its role in providing fiscal and policy directions, major governance parastatal have taken up its duties as means filling the gap created by the lapse.
Obi made this reference at the AY Live online interview anchored by Ago Makun, aka, AY, with while responding to questions on the programe which got over 15 Thousand participants online.
One of the viewers and responders on the program had asked Obi if he blamed Emefiele for the ongoing monetary debacle that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has been under going, recently.
“CBN is charged with monitoring monitary policies and shouldn’t be delving in those things we have seen them do recently.
“But when people elected to rule abdicate their duties to provide fiscal direction, it creates a vacuum that CBN and other parastatal want to fill as a way of helping out, ” he added.
Obi drew an example from the rice pyramid in Abuja, when some farmers stated that CBN assisted them to grow rice through the Anchor Borrowers scheme of the CBN.
“The farmers didn’t thanks the Minister of Agriculture under whose purview such projects falls under.
“They did not thank the Bank of Agriculture who gives loans for such venture.
“But they were thanking The CBN governor who doesn’t have anything to do with such project directly.
“All Godwin Emefiele was doing was to help when the others failed.
Obi mentioned too that NNPC, the country’s oil company had similar issue declaring intentions to build Nigerian roads.
“No body created them for that purpose” he said.
