Ogoja Council Constitutes Local Emergency Management Committee

CROSS RIVER – The Executive Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Council, Chief Hon. Christopher Agbeh, has approved the constitution of the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC).

The decision, contained in a press release from the Council Chairman’s Office, is in accordance with the Cross River State Laws Part V, Section 28, Sub-sections 1 and 2.

The Committee, according to Agbeh, will strengthen the establishment of Rescue Centres across the 18 Local Government Areas to enhance emergency response capacity.

Members of the Committee include Hon. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu (Chairman), Hon. Livinus Ekane (Humanitarian Affairs), Mr. David Ilom (Health), Mr. Fidelis Eku Egede (Environment), Mr. Micheal Edore Abang, and a representative of SEMA.

The release stated that the Committee will be inaugurated on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Ogoja Local Government Council Hall.

Agbeh said the initiative reflects the Council’s determination to safeguard lives and property through proactive disaster management and humanitarian coordination.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to responsive governance and effective local service delivery.
