As Edo State clocks 34 years of existence, Governor Monday Okpebholo has extended warm felicitations to indigenes of the state within Nigeria and across the globe.

In a goodwill message released by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the Governor reflected on the creation of Edo on August 27, 1991, praising the resilience and uncommon determination of its people. He acknowledged the vision of the state’s founding fathers and commended past leaders whose contributions laid the foundation for the growth being experienced today.

Governor Okpebholo noted that the anniversary goes beyond the marking of a date, describing it as an opportunity to take stock of the state’s journey, celebrate its milestones, and renew commitment to building a prosperous future.

According to him, the state has made remarkable progress in critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic development, even in the face of daunting challenges.

Highlighting Edo’s enviable heritage, the Governor remarked that the state’s strength lies in its cultural legacy, especially the greatness of the Benin Kingdom, which continues to inspire excellence. He stated that the achievements of the last three decades serve as proof of what unity and hard work can deliver.

Calling for collaboration among citizens, regardless of tribe, faith, or political leaning, Okpebholo emphasised that the collective dream of a greater Edo can only be realised through shared responsibility. He urged every son and daughter of the state to support his administration’s agenda of progress, stressing the need to put aside differences in pursuit of the common good.

“The success of Edo belongs to all of us,” he declared. “Let us stand together, strengthen our bonds, and remain focused on building a state that future generations will be proud of.”
