Former Jigawa State Governor and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has declared that he will no longer participate in any party meetings unless key figures such as Nyesom Wike and Samuel Ortom are expelled for alleged anti-party activities during the 2023 general elections.

In an interview with journalists, Lamido, who is a member of both the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BoT), called out Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Ortom, the former Governor of Benue State, as individuals who worked against the party’s interest and should have long been sanctioned.

“During our time, the party was supreme. It held full authority and everyone respected it, no matter your position or region. Anyone who crossed the party line was dealt with,” Lamido said, expressing disappointment at what he described as the erosion of discipline in the PDP.

Citing his past experience as National Secretary of the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP), Lamido recalled how he spearheaded the expulsion of the late Arthur Nzeribe from the party for breaching party discipline.

Lamido criticized Wike for allegedly undermining the PDP while claiming to remain loyal to it.

“Someone like Wike, who claims to love the PDP but is clearly working against it, should have been expelled by now. What is the National Working Committee waiting for?” he asked.

He also condemned the continued presence of Ortom on the PDP BoT, noting that the former Benue governor openly endorsed Peter Obi of the Labour Party during the 2023 election cycle.

“That’s why I’ve said I will not attend any PDP meeting unless Wike is expelled and Ortom is removed from the BoT. I remain a PDP member, but I will not participate in party functions or answer calls to meetings while these individuals remain in leadership,” he stated.

Lamido went further to criticize the imposition of candidates and what he described as a disregard for democratic processes within the party.

Turning his focus back to Wike, Lamido described the FCT Minister as an ingrate who is determined to destroy the very party that gave him political relevance.

“Here is someone who was honoured by the PDP, brought into national prominence by the party, and now he’s trying to tear it down. Wike is a disaster — what he’s doing is un-African and un-Nigerian,” Lamido declared.

He condemned Wike’s role in the sealing of the PDP national secretariat, likening it to “burning your own home.”

“He claims he financed the party. But is it wrong for a son to take care of his mother? Does that mean the mother must now obey him unquestioningly?” he asked.

Lamido praised President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in ordering the reopening of the PDP secretariat, asserting that even the APC leader has seen through Wike’s actions.

“Tinubu has exposed Wike as unreliable and lacking tradition and pedigree. And now, even Tinubu might soon abandon him,” he concluded.
