The leadership of the PDP South-South has noted with pride the continuous, excellent, and satisfactory development strides of Rivers Governor, His Excellency Gov. Nyesom Wike, and other party governors in the zone.
According to Truthlive.net, the development was contained in a communique issued by the Zonal Working Committee which comprises 10 members at a meeting in Rivers State capital, which was presided over by the national vice Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, and signed by the party’s organising Secretary at the Zone, Mr Ekom Akonjom
The leadership praised the party’s members in Cross River State for their dedication and loyalty in the face of alleged unwarranted aggression and intimidation by some elements in the state. They also praised the River State governor’s role in keeping the party alive and well in Cross River State.
While noting with concern the current issues of conflict of interest and crisis among notable and very senior leaders of the party within the zone, the Zonal Working Committee assured party faithful across the zone of its resolve and readiness to resolve the issues.
The PDP zonal leadership also expressed concern about the party’s unabated crisis since the presidential primaries and welcomed the party’s decision to organize a national zonal consultative tour. However, it expressed concern that the South-South zone consultative tour would take place outside the zonal headquarters in Port-Harcourt, River State. They claimed that such a move risks further dividing party leaders in the zone.
It was decided, however, that the party’s consultative tour would take place at the PDP Zonal Headquarters in Port-Harcourt, River State. According to the statement, holding such meetings outside the zonal headquarters will aggravate issues and will not achieve the desired move toward reconciliation, peace, and unity in the party, but will constitute a violation of Section 31 (2) (d) of the Party’s Constitution, and the Zonal Working Committee will not be a party to any violation of the Party’s rules, let alone its Constitution.
Finally, the party’s leadership expressed gratitude and appreciation to party leaders and members throughout the zone, particularly PDP governors, for their unending support and encouragement to the Zonal Working Committee.
