Chairman, Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), Dr. Jim Pam, has said that the state governor, Caleb Mutfwang has mandated them to increase the state’s revenue to N52 billion this year.

This is coming after Dr. Pam has declared that the state made N31.14 billion in 2024, thus making it the first time the state was hitting more then N30 billion mark adding that, this is in contrast to the N25.8 billion made in 2023.

Addressing journalists in his office, Pam said that the service was, however, starting on a good footing as it collected N3.3 billion in January compared to N1.6 billion it collected during the corresponding period last year.

Pam said that the service was able to achieve this through improved revenue collection by bringing more tax payers into the tax net and blocking of leakages in the revenue system

He added that though the state had witnessed an increase in internally generated revenue, its federally allocated revenue had for the past six months, come with a minus owing to foreign debts that the state had incurred in the past and fluctuations in the rate of foreign exchange.
