A dramatic high-speed police chase unfolded along the Gwarinpa-Kubwa service lane in Abuja on Friday evening, resulting in the arrest of a drug suspect.
The incident began when the Crack Squad, led by ASP Segun Ozioma Edene, stopped a Toyota Venza (GWA 151 BM) during a routine patrol around 6:00 p.m.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered suspected Indian hemp and other illicit drugs.
The driver, 25-year-old Ahmed Abdul, was instructed to reposition his vehicle; however, he sped off with Inspector Raphael Oghalla trapped inside.
A high-speed pursuit ensued, ending when Abdul lost control and crashed into a gutter.
Abdul sustained minor injuries, while Inspector Oghalla suffered serious chest wounds and is currently receiving treatment at the Police Clinic in Area 1, Garki.
The damaged vehicle has been impounded, and Abdul remains in custody as investigations continue.
