Kwara State Police command says that five members of the public caught earlier Wednesday over civil unrests would have their day in court soon.
The Ilorin metropolis had woken up to riots with occasioned by burning of tires on highways.
“Kwara State Police Command woke up to an unlawful burning of disused tires on some major roads in the Ilorin Metropolitan Area this morning, in spite of the earlier warning by the Command against such unwholesome behavior by hoodlums in the wake of the Naira note swap,” Said Ajayi Ajayi Okasanmi, spokesman of the state police command.
Though the situation has been brought under control he added that the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, CP Paul Odama, ordered aggressive motorized and foot patrols of the metro.
“The five suspects already arrested in the course of the disturbances this morning would be charged in court,” Okasanmi added.
