LA 27-year-old man, Mohammed Bello, attempted to take his own life by climbing an MTN mast at Maimala Buni Street in Gombe Local Government Area.
Fortunately, the Gombe State Police Command intervened, preventing the tragic incident.
According to DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the police received a distress call and quickly dispatched officers from the Pantami Division to the scene.
Upon arrival, they engaged Bello, who expressed his desperation, feeling pursued by security agencies over debts owed to two creditors.
Bello had lost hope, preferring to end his life rather than face the consequences of his financial troubles.
However, the timely intervention of Katukan Gombe, a respected community leader, helped resolve the situation peacefully.
Katukan Gombe assured Bello that his debts would be settled, persuading him to climb down safely.
The police took Bello into custody, recording his statement.
The Command commended the swift response of officers and community stakeholders, urging the public to seek lawful solutions to financial difficulties, emphasizing that help is always available.
