ABUJA, NIGERIA – Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno of Akwa Ibom State led a high-powered 104-member delegation to the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, for a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The delegation, which included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, political leaders, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders across party lines, reaffirmed a shared commitment to the state’s development.
In a Facebook post, Governor Eno described the visit as a demonstration of unity and a collective vision for Akwa Ibom. He expressed gratitude to the President for his support and tabled three key requests:

Refund of Ecological Funds –The Governor sought reimbursement for billions spent by the state on managing ecological disasters, emphasizing the urgent need for federal intervention in tackling environmental challenges.
Federal Support for Ibom Deep Seaport – He called for renewed commitment to the long-awaited Ibom Deep Seaport Project, which is expected to drive economic growth and boost maritime trade.
Presidential Visit in May 2025 – Governor Eno extended an invitation to President Tinubu to commission the Arise Resorts and critical road projects, marking a milestone in the state’s infrastructure development.

Governor Eno also commended Senate President Akpabio for his support and acknowledgment of the unity within Akwa Ibom. He emphasized that this harmony serves as the foundation for sustainable progress in the state.
The Governor extended special appreciation to key stakeholders, including Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyi, immediate past Governor Udom Emmanuel, traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth and women representatives, and other dignitaries who participated in the visit.
“Together, we are building a brighter future for Akwa Ibom,” Governor Eno stated, urging continued collaboration for the state’s advancement.
