Before governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo took over the mantle of leadership of the state, the various ministries were scattered at the various locations within the city centre.
We have the ministry of Agriculture at Ezoti and others in different locations. This makes the running of ministries activities a little bit cumbersome.
Not that the workers in these ministries would not have loved to be in one complex but there was no place to house them together.
In the midst of no place to house them, a gigantic structure but uncompleted was lying fallow at the Palm House otherwise known as the State Secretariat along Sapele road, Benin City, built by Samuel Ogbemudia and abandoned by successive governments.
The governor, upon assumption of office, started the renovation and eventually completed the building with the state-of-the-art facilities in place.
And upon completion, the governor however mandated all the ministries, far and near, to relocate to the secretariat.
In the complex, workers do not have to complain about parking spaces because all things were already mapped out.
The offices are well fitted with air conditioners, running water, 24 hours light, lift, and internet facility.
Truth Live News reports that, the governor has repeatedly said that he is going to create a conducive working environment for the civil servants to carry out their day-to-day assignments for the overall well being of the state.
Upon visiting the complex in December, Truth Live News discovered that the civil servants are currently working in a cosy environment with air conditioner cooling off their brains and are carrying out their duty, dutifully.
This has made the state civil servants always eager to go to work everyday because of the friendly atmosphere they now work in.
Moreso, that is why the civil servants are happy that Asue Ighodalo, a renowned economist and technocrat per excellent, is poised to take over from Governor Godwin Obaseki to run along with his developmental strides.
They are of the belief that, when Asue Ighodalo takes over, all the laudable projects governor Godwin Obaseki has started will be sustained while others that will make their work more enjoyable will also be introduced because of his vast experiences in the public and private sectors.
