Relief in Kogi State as Six Additional Kidnapped Students Rescued Alive

Six more kidnapped students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, (CUSTECH) Osara in Kogi State have been rescued from their abductors, bringing the total number of rescued students to twenty.

Truthlive news recalled that On May 9, gunmen invaded the university and abducted students who were preparing for their examinations.

Fourteen of the students were rescued early Sunday morning.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the state Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, it was revealed that there are still four students yet to be located.

Fanwo explained that a fierce gun battle between security forces and the kidnappers led to the kidnappers surrendering due to superior firepower, leaving behind the abducted students. Some of the kidnappers managed to escape, sustaining serious injuries.

The Commissioner confirmed that the families of the six recently rescued students have verified their safe return home.

Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State expressed profound gratitude to the Joint Forces involved in the rescue operations, urging them to persist until all students are accounted for.

He assured the public that the security measures around schools have been reinforced to enhance efficiency and provide early warning signals to prevent similar incidents in the future.
