A renewed attack by suspected armed herdsmen in Yellewata, a border community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, has resulted in the deaths of three people.
The attack occurred on Saturday evening when heavily armed terrorists invaded the Yelewatta community at around 12:00 midnight, killing residents in their homes.
A family of three, including a father, son, and two-year-old child, were brutally murdered in their room, while the mother was shot and is critically ill.
The prompt response of the Nigeria Police Force, Benue State Civil Protection Guard, and the Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council has restored peace in the area for now, Truth Live News learnt.
It was gathered that the actual number of casualties is yet to be ascertained, and efforts to confirm the incident from the Benue State Police Command spokesperson were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
