NIGERIA, ABUJA – Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the global workforce, disrupting traditional IT and software roles while creating new opportunities for skilled professionals. Experts say Nigerian youth must adapt fast or risk being left behind.
According to global technology reports, the 2020s witnessed a surge in AI copilots, low-code platforms and data-driven analytics that automate repetitive coding. These trends are transforming the roles of software developers and data analysts.
“The world is moving from human-coded programs to AI-generated solutions,” stated Nvidia’s CEO, Jensen Huang, in a global address on AI’s industrial impact. He stressed that physical AI, powered by robotics and real-time sensors, will soon dominate industries from agriculture to manufacturing.
By 2030, AI systems are expected to autonomously design, test and deploy digital solutions. This evolution, experts warn, will erase many routine coding jobs. However, it will also open pathways for roles combining domain expertise with AI literacy.
Professor John Hennessy, former president of Stanford University, argued in a 2024 publication that an ethics-by-design framework is essential. “AI must serve humanity positively, not replace it,” he said, calling for policies that merge innovation with moral responsibility.

Similarly, the U.S. National Academies’ Convergence Report emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary education. The report recommended project-based modules that fuse physics, engineering, and computation — skills now central to AI-driven economies.
Technology observers note that Nigeria’s education and youth programs must realign with this new reality. Dr. Iniabasi Okon, an AI ethics researcher in Lagos, said the nation’s young people must seize opportunities in AI literacy and automation.
“Our youth must not just consume technology; they must create and control it,” Dr. Okon noted. “This is a moment for self-reliance, learning and ethical application.”
Situational ethics now play a key role in technology adoption. As automation expands, moral awareness and responsibility must guide innovation to prevent exploitation and inequality.
For Nigeria, Truth Live News gathered that the AI transition offers both warning and opportunity. Embracing education in robotics, data science, and AI governance could turn disruption into empowerment for a new generation of thinkers and builders.
