Ismail Abdulazeez Mantu Reporting Edo State, Nigeria

In anticipation of the forthcoming 2024 Edo State governorship election, former Senator Ehigie Edobor Uzamere, who represented the Edo South Senatorial District from 2007 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a fervent call to the residents of Edo State.

Speaking exclusively to Truth Live News on Wednesday, Uzamere emphasized the critical importance of selecting a capable successor to Governor Godwin Obaseki, whose second term is drawing to a close.

“We are in the process of electing a successor to Gov Godwin Obaseki, whose 2nd tenure will soon come to an end” Uzamere pointed out.”

Governor Obaseki’s tenure, as highlighted by Uzamere, has witnessed substantial advancements across various sectors in the state.

Such as Infrastructure development, including the construction of roads, upgrades to healthcare facilities, implementation of health insurance schemes, establishment of job centers, elevation of educational standards, and enhancements in power generation, stand as notable achievements during Obaseki’s leadership.

“Governor Obaseki has moved the State exponentially in terms of development – more roads built, hospitals upgraded, health insurance in place, job centers established, improved education standards, power generation and many more,” Uzamere said.

In light of these accomplishments, Uzamere stressed the necessity for Edo State to continue its trajectory of progress under a successor who can effectively build upon the foundations laid by Governor Obaseki.

Central to Uzamere’s message is the imperative for Edo citizens to exercise discernment and prudence in their choice for the next governor.

“Edo State citizens are looking for a next governor that will improve on Obaseki’s achievements so that Edo State can proudly assert herself as the Pride of the Nation,” Uzamere acknowledged.

Expressing his reservations regarding certain candidates, Uzamere singled out Sen. Monday Okpebholo, suggesting that he may not align with the aspirations and expectations of the people of Edo State.

“Listening to Senator Monday Okpebholo in this video, definitely he is not the man of our dreams,” said Uzamere.

In his final statement, Uzamere endorsed Asue Ighodalo as the candidate who embodies the qualities needed to steer Edo State towards further prosperity and recognition as a beacon of progress within the nation.

“Edolites vote wisely, vote for intelligence, vote for an achiever, vote Asue Ighodalo,” Uzamere concluded.
