Nigerian music star Simisola Ogunleye, popularly known as Simi, has called for sanctions against airport staff who filmed and shared a viral video of passenger Comfort Emmanson being forcibly removed from an Ibom Air flight at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on August 10, 2025.
The incident, which occurred after Emmanson allegedly refused to turn off her phone before takeoff from Uyo to Lagos, escalated into an altercation upon arrival, leading to her physical removal from the aircraft.
A video capturing the event, recorded by an individual at the scene, showed Emmanson being indecently exposed during the process, sparking widespread outrage.
Simi, taking to her social media platforms, condemned the unedited circulation of the footage, questioning the professionalism and motives behind sharing such a privacy breach. “So let’s say the lady is mad and did too much. Someone recorded her being dragged off the plane. Recorded her being exposed like that and then posted it without editing out this exposure or blurring it out,” she wrote.
The singer, married to renowned artist Adekunle Gold, stressed that the act of filming and disseminating the unedited video warranted accountability. “I personally want to know who posted that video and why no one is holding him/her accountable because Aunty will face the law. But voluntarily posting her half-naked for millions of people to see when less than 10 people actually witnessed it in the first place deserves punishment too,” she added.
While public discourse has focused on Emmanson’s alleged unruly behavior, the singer redirected attention to the unethical sharing of the footage, calling for sanctions against those responsible.
According to Ibom Air’s official statement, Emmanson’s refusal to comply with aviation rules led to an altercation, after which she allegedly attacked staff and was handed over to the Nigerian Police Force for further action.
However, the viral video has shifted scrutiny to the conduct of airport personnel and the airline’s response.
