The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has taken a strong lead in the Anambra State governorship election, according to results released from 19 of the 21 local government areas so far.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced collation at its headquarters in Awka after counting ended in most polling units across the state.
From the results announced so far, APGA has recorded 389,789 votes. The All Progressives Congress (APC) follows with 91,592 votes, while the Labour Party (LP) has 10,366 votes and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has 1,230 votes.
With only two LGAs remaining, Soludo appears to be heading toward a comfortable second term victory.
INEC says the collation exercise will continue until all 21 LGAs have been officially declared.
