AKWA IBOM, UYO — The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has congratulated Ms. Usoro Akpabio on her appointment as the Managing Director of the newly established South South Development Commission (SSDC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement shared on his official social media handle and released to the press by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno described Akpabio’s appointment as a “great honor” to Akwa Ibom State and expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the decision.

“We thank President Tinubu for this great appointment of our daughter as the pioneer Managing Director of the South South Development Commission and for his kind consideration of picking our State capital, Uyo, as the operational headquarters of the Commission,” Eno said.

He praised Ms. Akpabio’s commitment to grassroots development and expressed confidence in her leadership. “Given her tireless work in bringing issues of development, especially in rural areas across the South South geo-political zone, to the fore, we wish her a fruitful and impactful tenure,” the governor stated.

Governor Eno also commended the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON, for his collaborative efforts with the state and his role in facilitating the inclusion of Akwa Ibom indigenes in federal appointments.

The appointment comes months after a delegation of Akwa Ibom stakeholders, led by Governor Eno, visited President Tinubu and appealed for greater inclusion of the state’s citizens in national governance.
