UYO, NIGERIA – The Akwa Ibom State Government has invited next-of-kin of deceased Local Education Authority (LEA) pensioners from Itu, Eket, and Abak for a pension refund screening exercise.
According to a statement from the Office of the Head of Civil Service, the screening will take place at Akpan Isemin Hall, Government House, Uyo, on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, from 10:00 a.m.
Officials said the exercise aims to finalize clearance and refund of the outstanding 7.5% contributory pension owed to the deceased.
Elder Effiong Essien, Head of Civil Service, said, “Only next-of-kin from Itu, Eket, and Abak expected at this stage.”

He advised the next-of-kin to come with all service documents of their deceased relations, letter of administration, and valid means of identification.
Essien also urged families from other LEAs to wait for further announcements on their own scheduled dates.
The move reflects the government’s effort to ensure accountability and timely disbursement of pension entitlements.
