OBANLIKU, CROSS RIVER STATE – The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Obanliku LGA, Cross River State Hon. Asembel Ephraim Alikpo, has firmly rejected alleged efforts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to lure party members through internal proxies.

In a press release dated May 26, 2025, Alikpo described the invitation as “driven by personal interests and ambitions” and not reflective of Obanliku’s PDP values.

“Our loyalty remains with the PDP and Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe,” he said, praising the Senator’s commitment to people’s welfare.

He warned PDP members not to be swayed by “fleeting promises or personal gain,” urging them to stay united and principled.

Alikpo criticized the APC’s performance, stating it “has failed to deliver meaningful progress,” particularly to rural communities suffering neglect.

According to the PDP chairman, only the PDP under Jarigbe’s leadership has shown consistent effort and direction in Obanliku.

“We stand firm in our conviction,” Alikpo said, emphasizing loyalty to the people, party, and PDP values.

The press release underscores the growing tension between opposition parties and the ruling APC in Cross River State.

When contacted, APC’s local officials declined to comment on the allegation of using proxies to entice PDP members.

This development comes amid rising political alignments ahead of the next general election cycle in the state.
