CALABAR, CROSS RIVER STATE – The Calabar Municipal Council says it is not involved in any illegal traffic enforcement in the metropolis.

The Chairman, Apostle James Anam, had previously disbanded the Council’s traffic task forces, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Oqua E. Etim.

“These claims by TRAMRA are false and misleading,” Etim stated. “They aim to defame the Council’s leadership.”

The Cross River State Traffic Management and Regulatory Agency (TRAMRA) had accused Council officials of unlawful activities.

TRAMRA is urged to verify facts before making public statements, the Council noted in the release.

“The Council does not support any act that tarnishes the image of the state,” Etim said.

The Council called on security agencies to arrest and prosecute individuals behind illegal enforcement.

It reaffirmed support for Governor Bassey Edet Otu’s People First agenda and distanced itself from all unlawful acts.
