The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC)Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has pledged to wade into the long-standing issue between the Federal Government, the Academic Staff Union Of the University and their sister bodies.
Recall government universities across the nation have been shut down for over two months following the inability of the federal government to meet up with the demands of the Unions after several negotiations.
Tinubu who made the pledge on Thursday during a meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) in Osogbo, the Osun State capital said: “We were trying to find—even if it is a back door, a way of reaching them (ASSU leaders).
“I am assuring you, we are not going to use the back door because our leader too (Buhari) has shown his lamentation in the last 48 hours and as a result of that, he has left the door open for our intervention.”
