Famous Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage, has revealed how pregnancy affected her voice range while recording her album ‘R.E.D’.

“I was pregnant when I recorded ‘R.E.D’. I would be in the studio crying with my big belly. It was a struggle to record the album,” she recounted.

The pregnancy-related vocal struggles forced Savage to change the key of some songs in the album, as she found it challenging to hit certain notes.

“I changed the key of some of the songs in the album because being pregnant affected how I could hit some notes,” she explained.

Savage also received support from her label, Mavin Records, particularly from Don Jazzy, who ensured her energy levels were maintained during the recording process.

“I was the first person to have a baby in Mavin, So whenever they notice my energy is going down, Jazzy will tell them to get me my cravings which are eggs and bread,” she said.

The songstress joined Mavin Records in 2012 and exited to join Universal Music Group in 2019, in what marked a significant milestones in her music career.
