A Nigerian Army officer, Lieutenant Samson Haruna, has died after sustaining severe burns in a domestic incident allegedly involving his wife at Wellington Bassey Barracks, Ibagwa, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
Truth Live News gathered from multiple source that the tragic incident occurred on 22 September 2025 following a heated argument between the officer, who was also a medical doctor serving as the Regimental Medical Officer (RMO) of 6 Battalion, and his wife, Mrs. Samson Haruna.
According to reports, the altercation escalated, leading to the suspect allegedly dousing her husband with petrol (PMS) before setting him ablaze.
The officer sustained severe burns and was immediately stabilised at the Military Reference Section (MRS) within the barracks before being evacuated to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital for advanced medical treatment. Despite intensive efforts by medical personnel, Lieutenant Haruna succumbed to his injuries.
Security sources disclosed that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody, while the Nigerian Army and relevant authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
