A devastating accident occurred near Yauri in Kebbi State, claiming the life of a driver and injuring 13 students of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto.
The students were traveling from Ilorin, Kwara State, to Sokoto when the vehicle crashed, resulting in instant death for the driver and various degrees of injuries for the students.
Eight students suffered bone fractures, while five others are receiving treatment at the Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has directed the immediate release of N5,250,000 to cover the medical expenses of the injured students.
“The money covers the cost of tests, scans, and other procedures and treatments already itemized by the hospital for their quick recovery,” according to Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Wasiu Onidugbe.
The governor also sent a get-well-soon message to the students, praying for their safe and speedy recovery.
