A tricycle operator lost his life in an accident along Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard in Umuahia, Abia State, on Saturday, after a bus with faulty brakes rammed into his Keke NAPEP.

The bus’s brake failure led to the collision, which caused the death of the unidentified tricycle operator.

A JAMB candidate who was a passenger on the tricycle survived the crash but sustained head injuries.

The survivor’s father, Mr. Emenike Okorie, confirmed that his son suffered a head injury and became unconscious due to the accident’s impact but later regained consciousness at Abia State Specialist Hospital Amachara Annex.

According to the survivor, he had asked the tricycle operator to stop so he could alight near his home behind Bawas fuel station.

Narrating the incident, Mr Okorie said: “According to my son, he asked the tricycle operator to stop for him to alight, because we live behind Bawas fuel station. As the Keke man wanted to clear from the road for my son to alight, a bus driver who’s break failed wanted to use the Keke that was carrying my son to wedge his vehicle, and then hit the Keke with that force, causing the Keke to summersault”.
