Troops of the 17 Brigade under Operation FANSAN YAMMAN, alongside the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), have apprehended two high-value suspects accused of fueling terrorist operations in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The arrests, based on actionable intelligence, targeted a logistics supplier and an informant linked to notorious bandit kingpin Babaru, security sources disclosed to Zagazola.
The suspects are Aminu Rabiu Zango, 52, who allegedly provided critical supplies, and Alhaji Abdulrahman Tambaya, 52, a suspected communicator for the group.
“Rabiu confessed that his son supplies weapons and ammunition to terrorist kingpin Babaru and recently relocated to Karu, Abuja. He also admitted to working for Alhaji Iliya Zango, said to be Babaru’s superior,” the source revealed.
“Tambaya, on the other hand, was found with one of Babaru’s active phone numbers on his handset,” the source added.
The operation exposed deeper networks, with Rabiu’s admissions pointing to a weapons pipeline extending to the capital. Tambaya’s device yielded direct ties to Babaru, potentially giving further leads on the group’s movements and safe houses.
He added that another suspected logistics supplier, Ado Dan Zaria, escaped after scaling the fence of his residence when troops arrived. His house was searched and later destroyed.
Interrogations continue, as authorities owing intensity operations to bring terrorism to its knees.
