Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA neutralised seven armed bandits and seized four motorcycles in a fierce encounter in Baba, Kankara Local Government Area, on Thursday, security sources confirmed.
The over two-hour operation was launched following credible intelligence on bandits terrorising local farming communities. “The troops engaged the bandits, killing seven while the remaining suspects fled with gunshot injuries,” a security source reported. Four motorcycles used in their criminal activities were recovered.
The operation is part of intensified efforts to dismantle criminal hideouts across frontline areas and protect residents, particularly farmers, during the rainy season.
Authorities urged locals to provide timely information to security agencies, stating, “Residents were urged to continue providing timely information to support ongoing operations and help restore peace across the North West.”
