US President Donald Trump has nominated Whitney Hermandorfer to serve as a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Hermandorfer is currently serving in the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, where she has litigated cases to protect citizens from federal government overreach.
Trump praised Hermandorfer, a former Princeton University women’s basketball team co-captain, as a staunch defender of girls’ and women’s sports.
Hermandorfer has worked with judges and justices who respect the rule of law and protect the Constitution, including Justice Samuel Alito.
Trump also announced the appointments of eight individuals to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council.
The appointees include Betty Schwartz, Fred Marcus, Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz, Sid Rosenberg, Ariel Abergel, Barbara Feingold, Alex Witkoff, and Robert Garson.
The council’s task is to preserve the memories and stories of those who lost their lives during one of the darkest moments in history.
Trump stressed the importance of never forgetting the Holocaust.
