At least 15 people have been rescued after a two-storey building collapsed in the Oyingbo area of Lagos, Nigeria, in the early hours of Monday.
The structure, located at No. 54 Cole Street, near Cemetery Bus Stop, came down shortly after midnight, trapping several residents under the rubble.
Emergency officials said firefighters from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) responded to the distress call around 12:20 a.m. and arrived at the site within minutes.
According to LSFRS Director Margaret Adeseye, seven men, four women, and four children were pulled out alive with various injuries. The victims have been taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Ebute Meta and the General Hospital on Lagos Island for treatment.
Authorities said the building had previously been marked as unsafe but was still occupied.
Rescue operations are ongoing as officials continue to search for anyone who might still be trapped.
“The rescue team remains fully on site to ensure everyone is safely recovered,” Adeseye said.
