NIGERIA, UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, will on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, flag off the construction of ten Youth-Friendly Centres across selected pilot local government areas of the state.

According to the Ministry of Youth Development, the project aims to create “innovation-driven spaces” for young people through purpose-built facilities featuring ICT hubs, e-libraries, co-working spaces, coffee shops, and recreation lounges.

The Commissioner for Youth Development said in Uyo on Monday that the initiative aligns with the Arise Agenda of Governor Umo Eno’s administration, designed to empower youths through skill development and entrepreneurship.

Each centre will operate on solar-powered electricity and provide a secure environment for creativity, digital learning, and social interaction. “We are building an ecosystem that supports productivity and innovation among Akwa Ibom youths,” the statement added.

Governor Eno is expected to personally perform the flag-off ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in the respective local government headquarters, with community leaders, youth groups, and state officials in attendance.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the Governor has approved the appointment of Mr. Destiny Young as the Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media with immediate effect.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and made available to newsmen in Uyo on Monday.

Uwah, who conveyed the Governor’s approval, congratulated the new appointee and urged him to “discharge his duties with diligence and uphold the ethics of the public service.”

Truth Live News reported Observers view both the youth development initiative and the appointment as strategic moves to strengthen youth inclusion and digital engagement in governance.
