The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has been forced to lay off thousands of employees due to severe funding cuts imposed by the US.

The agency, which had a workforce of around 22,000 people at the end of last year, is struggling to cope with the financial constraints.

The IOM has been accused of pandering to Washington’s anti-migrant agenda and providing cover for mass deportations.

The agency’s spokesperson emphasized that the funding cuts would have devastating consequences, including increased suffering, migration, and insecurity.

“These funding cuts directly affect IOM’s ability to support some of the World’s must vulnerable people.

“This would lead to more suffering, increased migration, and greater insecurity,” IOM spokesperson said.

The US aid freeze, which was implemented by President Donald Trump, has had a crippling effect on the IOM’s operations.

The agency has been forced to dramatically curtail spending and freeze its US resettlement activities.

In February, the IOM announced plans to scale up its efforts in Latin America and the Caribbean to help migrants return home and rebuild their lives.

However, the agency’s ability to implement these plans is now in jeopardy due to the funding cuts.
