Update: Police Recovers Missing Bodies Of Students Involved In Boat Mishap In Calabar

After two days, the bodies of three Medical students involved on Saturday’s boat mishap have been recovered by the marine police in Calabar.

The Cross River State, Commissioner of Police CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, made this known while addressing Journalists on the incident on Monday.

Grimah said since the incident happened, the police had not been rested and had been on rescue effort day and night till this morning.

He said the incident occurred on Saturday about two days ago around after three in the afternoon,where a boat capsized and three medical students were drowned at the Marina Resorts in Calabar.

“I am here to let you know that the three bodies have been recovered,” CP Grimah said. “When the three bodies were sighted our marine police went to the scene to help and the bodies have been delivered to us.”

The police commissioner who did not disclose where the bodies were taken to, said in a video seeing by Truth Live News that they have been taken them to where they would be preserved.

“You can see the Marina Resort was shot down yesterday that was to tell you that the incident is taken serious for all measures needed to safeguard lives and properties,” Grimah said, “this area of the economy is being addressed and you will hear that in no distance time from the authority concerned.”

The bodies of the three students whom it was said they were on boat cruise have been identified as Hamza Kabir, Mustapha Tukur and Aisha Celestine Ogwu of Ahmadu Bello’s University Medical School.

Recall that the paper, earlier reported that following the incident on Saturday the Governor of Cross River State Sen Bassey Edet Otu, has halted cruise operation at the Marina Resorts and ordered investigation into the unfortunate accident.
