US President Donald Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, will visit Moscow this week for a new round of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine.

Witkoff has previously held three long meetings with Putin on prospects for ending the war in Ukraine.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Trump wants to see peace and is frustrated with both sides of the war.

Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yury Ushakov confirmed that Witkoff would visit Moscow this week.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed willingness to meet with Trump at the late Pope Francis’s funeral.

Zelenskyy said Ukraine would be ready to hold talks with Russia once a ceasefire is in place and fighting has stopped.

Putin has offered to halt his invasion of Ukraine across the current front line as part of efforts to reach a peace deal with Trump.

US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said General Keith Kellogg, Trump’s Ukraine envoy, will attend meetings in London regarding the war in Ukraine.
