Former Senator representing Edo South, Senator Ehigie Uzamere, has communicated warm birthday wishes to the former Senate President, Senator David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, GCON, describing him as a man of depth, character, and unfaltering commitment to justice.

In a tribute filled with admiration and personal reflection, Uzamere said, “Great men are steely and full of grit. They hardly talk, but when they do, wisdom oozes out,” noting that beneath Senator Mark’s ever-calm exterior lies a “firm and fair mind” that has remained consistent on the path of truth.

He described the former Senate President as “a study in resilience, intelligence, doggedness, wit, humor, kindness, camaraderie, and firmness,” recalling his journey from “the dusty roads of Otukpo to the Military School in Zaria,” and eventually to the pinnacle of legislative leadership, where he served for two decade, eight of which he spent as Senate President.

“Under your trademark shirt and trouser attire,” Uzamere wrote, “is a V12 engine in a super turbo charged body,” adding that despite the advancing years, “not one iota of vintage you is diminished.”

He stated, “You remain one of the best, if not the best, Senate President since our independence,” stressing that Senator Mark’s contributions to the legislature remain unmatched in modern Nigerian history.

Concluding his message, Uzamere prayed, “May your days be long as we thank God for your life’s journey thus far,” wishing the former Senate President “many more years in good health, shared love with family and friends, and God’s abiding grace.”

He signed off with a warm closing, “Multiple Happy Cheers, most distinguished Excellency.”
