Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, has declared that the era of unfulfilled government promises is over, as the Tinubu administration focuses on both infrastructure and restoring public trust.

Speaking on Friday at the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace, Radio Nigeria, New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu, said the project reflects the government’s commitment to meaningful development.

“This road is more than just a road,” Shettima said. “It’s a reminder that no community under this administration is too remote to be seen or too burdened to be heard.”

He described the road as “a corridor of dignity for market women, a path to safety for school children, and a road to prosperity for hardworking traders,” stressing that the administration is not only delivering infrastructure but also rebuilding confidence in governance.

Shettima also highlighted that the road was not imposed by the government but chosen by the local people themselves, a sign, he said, of a responsive and inclusive democracy.

“These projects were not dictated from above. They were nominated by the people of Gwagwalada. This is the kind of democracy we believe in — one that listens, one that responds, and one that delivers,” he said.

The Vice President’s remarks underscore the government’s message that it is working to close the gap between promises and results, while ensuring that community voices guide national development efforts.
