CROSS RIVER, IKOM – The Executive Chairman of Ikom Local Government Area, Hon. Pastor Mercy Nsor, has welcomed the 48th Commissioner of Police in Cross River State, CP Rashid Afegbua, during his LGA-by-LGA familiarization tour.
According to the Office of the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, Nsor was joined by the Okuni Area Commander, ACP Vincent Adelekun, traditional rulers from Ikom, Boki, and Etung, and other stakeholders to receive the Commissioner.
The Office reported that Hon. Nsor reassured Afegbua of her administration’s readiness to support the police and other security agencies. She stressed that Ikom residents continue to suffer insecurity ranging from robbery to communal clashes.
“Our people deserve urgent relief,” the Chairman was quoted as saying. “We seek more personnel, resources, and stronger presence in our communities to guarantee safety.”

In response, CP Afegbua appreciated the warm reception and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security in the LGA. He promised residents that the police would intensify patrols, expand intelligence networks, and partner with community leaders.
“We will collaborate with traditional institutions and government to ensure criminals have no hiding place in Ikom,” Afegbua stated, pledging swift attention to the security concerns raised.
The Chief Press Secretary’s office highlighted that the visit underscores the importance of collective action in addressing insecurity.
Truth Live News gathered that stakeholders believe CP Afegbua’s tenure could mark a turning point if his promises are translated into practical results.
The familiarization tour continues across LGAs in Cross River State as part of efforts to strengthen relationships with local communities and improve security.
