NIGERIA, ABUJA – The Federal Ministry of Youth Development has confirmed the withdrawal of the National Youth Council of Nigeria’s (NYCN) registration certificate by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
In a statement obtained by TheInvestigator on Tuesday, the Ministry said the CAC’s decision followed a detailed probe into the Council’s prolonged leadership tussle spanning more than 18 years.
According to the Ministry, the CAC’s letter dated October 6, 2025, indicated that the Council violated sections 833 and 834 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020, as well as provisions of its own constitution.
“As a result, the Commission has de-recognized all existing claims to leadership, trusteeship, and management within the organization,” the statement read.
The CAC, therefore, established an Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the Council’s affairs for one year, beginning October 6, 2025.

Reacting to the decision, the Ministry described the move as a lawful step aimed at restoring legitimacy and institutional integrity to the NYCN. It emphasized that the measure aligns with the Council’s founding ideals and the nation’s youth development goals.
Omolara Esan, Director of Information and Public Relations, signed the statement on behalf of the Ministry, urging youth stakeholders to cooperate with the IMC during the restructuring period.
She reassured Nigerians that “the Federal Ministry of Youth Development remains committed to ensuring a stable, credible, and inclusive youth governance framework that upholds accountability and transparency.”
The Ministry added that the latest action supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes ethical leadership and institutional reform in national youth development.
