A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Segun Sowunmi, has advised the party to bring back former presidential candidate Peter Obi into its fold ahead of the 2027 elections.
Recall that Obi left the PDP for the Labour Party in 2022, citing issues with the party’s presidential primary process.
Sowunmi, however, said that bringing Obi back would be a strategic move for the PDP, given his popularity and the 6.2 million votes he garnered in the 2023 presidential election.
Recently, the PDP has been embroiled in internal crises since the 2023 elections, with ongoing power struggles and defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Sowunmi attributed the party’s challenges to a lack of creativity and strategic thinking, warning that underestimating President Bola Tinubu’s abilities would be perilous.
