Judge Susan Crawford has emerged as the projected winner of the Wisconsin 2025 Supreme Court election, defeating Elon Musk-backed Brad Schimel.

Crawford slammed billionaire Elon Musk, stating that US courts are not for sale, and Wisconsin voters “fended off an unprecedented attack on our democracy.”

Her election preserves a 4-3 liberal majority at the state’s Supreme Court, which is expected to hear major cases involving abortion access, voting rights, and congressional districts.

Crawford expressed gratitude to voters, saying, “This campaign has been an incredible, life-altering experience, and I’m so grateful to have earned the trust and support of voters across this great state.”

She emphasized that Wisconsin voters stood up against the influence of money in the election, declaring, “Our courts are not for sale.”

Musk and groups tied to him spent roughly $20 million to support Schimel’s campaign, while Crawford received endorsements and over $17 million in support from prominent national Democrats.

Crawford’s 10-year term on the Supreme Court begins in August 2025.
